In 1983 New Life Children’s Services was birthed out of a heart to minister God’s love to pregnant women. Dr. A.B. “Bo” Henderson was the associate pastor at Houston Northwest Baptist Church, and as he counseled with women who were pregnant, he realized there needed to be an agency that would place babies in two-parent Christian adoptive homes. He began the licensing procedure with the State of Texas to begin such an agency.
The agency has always been located in a separate building on the church’s property. Although Houston Northwest Baptist Church supports the ministry of New Life Children’s Services financially, the agency and the church are separate legal entities.
Pregnant women and their families received counsel under “Brother Bo” until 1986, when he moved to Shreveport, Louisiana to accept a pastorate there. At that time Sara C. Black was appointed to be the Executive Director of New Life. New Life remains a safe place where birthparents, their extended families, adoptive families and adoptees can find unconditional love and acceptance because of God’s love for each of us.
The pregnancy help center strives to provide excellent and professional service to men and women facing an unplanned pregnancy. Our goal is that after your visit you can answer "YES!" to these three questions:
1. "Do I know the truth about abortion?"
2. "Do I know and understand my options?"
3. "Do I know New Life PHC cares and that God loves me?"
